This winter marks the launch of Whistler’s outdoor skating rink, located at the great lawn and pavilion of the Whistler Olympic Plaza (home of the medals ceremonies and outdoor concerts during the 2010 Winter Games) in the heart of the village. Skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza takes place daily between 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Public access to the rink is free and skate rentals are available for $5 between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and in the evenings from 6-9 p.m.
With North America’s only vertical mile of skiing and 9,000 acres of ski terrain, Whistler Blackcomb continues to raise the level of mountain excitement with the Peak to Peak Gondola. Boasting the longest unsupported lift span in the world at 3.024 km (1.88 miles), it’s also the highest lift of its kind at 415 metres / 1,361 feet.
Beyond the slopes, there’s more than enough entertainment activity in the village. Trendy shops, festivals and events, spas, restaurants and aprés-ski hot spots—it’s all here.
In the heart of it all is the Delta Whistler Village Suites, a charming all-suite hotel offering beautifully appointed alpine-style interiors and breathtaking mountain and valley views.
